The firm:
CarVal Investors (CVI) is a leader in opportunistic value investing. Founded in 1987 by Cargill, CarVal Investors has quietly acquired more than $15 billion in assets in 2,500 transactions. The firm has been a first mover or early entrant across the globe, having invested in 35 countries. Today, CarVal Investors manages over $8 billion in assets.

The position:
The Analyst position provides analytical and transaction support to Associates, Investment Managers and Managing Directors in a small team environment. Your ability to deliver work product is critical, but your ability to learn, think, collaborate and create will also be challenged and developed. The position will require travel.

The responsibilities:
60% Asset underwriting and valuation – the Analyst will model, value and underwrite investments, primarily portfolios of consumer debt accounts. The Analyst will stratify asset pools, model cash flows, identify and research risks, make well-supported investment recommendations, and craft approval and underwriting documents.

30% Investment management – the Analyst will monitor ongoing performance of existing transactions and our asset management partners, work with accountants and lawyers to ensure that asset managers comply with the terms of asset management agreements, and seek ways to maximize the value of assets acquired.

10% Other – the Analyst will support marketing efforts, recruiting, and other as needed.

The required qualifications:
· Bachelors Degree with excellent track record of success in previous endeavors
· 2+ years of experience in a Finance/Accounting environment, or equivalent. Business, analytical and financial modeling skills are preferred, however, candidates with less experience will also be considered. Excel proficiency required.
· Strong verbal and writing skills, excellent attention to detail
· Time management, organizational communication and multi-tasking abilitiesWillingness to learn, operate under demanding deadlines, create structure where none exists, and exhibit strong work ethic
